Lumen, Incorporated Supports Tech Ed in Yuma County

Lumen Incorporated will be sponsoring a Coding Development Day(s) in Yuma, AZ for 100 students of Yuma County Schools. Yuma schools presently do not offer coding classes.  However, these classes will begin for high school sophomores and juniors in the fall of 2017.  Lumen, Inc. will sponsor Coding Development Day(s) in Yuma that will target Middle School students, with future camps to be sponsored for elementary grades.

Yuma County Schools have a large population of under-served students who need to learn the skills necessary to lead them toward career paths in the digital world.

Lumen Incorporated will be able to fund these programs with your donations.

“Coding (also called programming or developing) is telling a computer, app, phone or website what you want it to do. Many educators and experts are calling it the ‘new literacy’—a subject so important that every child needs to know the basics to excel in our rapidly changing world.”  CBC Radio Canada - Parents
